As 2014 comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on the incredibly rough year we have experienced in our nation’s public schools.  I have never felt so disheartened as an educator in all of my 30 years in the profession.

I am not exaggerating, nor protesting the idea of “accountability” or, for gosh sakes, whining about the mountain of state mandates crushing our public school educators.  I’m reporting the facts- just talk to any public school teacher.  This is the reality.

My FB and Twitter feeds are riddled with articles and blog posts lamenting the loss of the very thing that drew most of us to the profession years ago:
