The truth is, we have no responsibility to changing stereotypical or negative perceptions of others because we have no authority over their thoughts and beliefs. Our beliefs and thoughts are used for specific purposes – to justify our actions, coping methods, to make us feel more significant, etc., and we will go to any lengths to protect them. So trying to “change” what others think or feel is a waste of time. More importantly, worrying about what people think or feel about you is one of the common ways we sabotage our potential for success. A better use of your time is to make sure you’re not described as “needy.” This is your responsibility.
