Letter: All too often, tax burden is placed on ‘little people’ – Times Union

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Tax-Free NY proposal, now renamed Start-Up NY, should be called “Leona’s Law” after the late billionaire tax-evader Leona Helmsley, who famously said “only the little people pay taxes.”

The privileged corporate welfare recipients will use public services — from roads and sanitation to public safety — at the expense of all honest taxpayers, and subject existing New York businesses to unfair competition. New York has tried such so-called economic development schemes before.
